Coach Monifa (“Mo”) Hamilton, DTM

A native of Long Island, New York, Monifa recently retired from her career in law enforcement. She pursued her advanced education by attending Hampton University with a BA in Sociology in 1994.  In May 2009, she graduated from The George Washington University with a Graduate Certificate for Leadership in Organizations. Monifa also completed her Masters of Arts in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University in March 2011.

Monifa is best known for her leadership and communications skills. One of her most recent and notable leadership achievements was her service as the District 29 Governor for Toastmasters International, a non-profit communications and leadership organization. As a District Governor, Monifa was responsible for overseeing approximately 3,000 members’ education and leadership throughout Northern Virginia. She helped to lead her team to distinguished status and was ranked as the #1 District in the U.S. for club growth.

Communications and Leadership is her passion. In her spare time she serves her community by volunteering as a “Community Judge” for Youth Speech and Debate competitions and continues to mentor and coach public speakers.  An avid Toastmaster, Monifa also provides speeches outside of the organization to various groups throughout the year.  She has given over 500 speeches to various organizations, businesses, and groups throughout the United States and around the world.  Most recently, Monifa was a featured keynote speaker in Jakarta, Indonesia, May 2016.  She has also provided speeches in Prague, Greece, and Singapore while attending her graduate studies.

Monifa plans to continue her educational advancements at The John Hopkins University, provide speech coaching to clients, and holds an interest to pursue writing books. She believes the world would be a better place to live and work if we each had effective communications skills.
